About Pawz and Purz

Our Cattery Philosophy

At Pawz and Purz, we believe in raising happy and healthy Maine Coon kittens .Our small family-run cattery focuses on quality over quantity, ensuring each Maine Coon kitten receives the love and attention they deserve.

HEALTH TESTING & Genetic Screening

At Pawz and Purz Maine Coons, we believe health begins at home. Each of our breeding cats is carefully screened and cared for to ensure strong genetics, lasting wellness, and happy, confident families for each kitten we raise.

Inside our healtH TESTING PROGRAM

Comprehensive DNA Testing

Each breeding cat completes DNA testing for over 45 genetic health conditions and 25+ trait and coat color markers.

This ensures every pairing is thoughtfully planned to support:

  • Genetic diversity
  • Sound structure
  • Ideal temperament

Hip Dysplasia

Maine Coons can be prone to hip dysplasia, which may lead to arthritis or joint discomfort.

✅ All of our breeding cats are x-rayed and evaluated through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (O.F.A.) prior to breeding.

✨ Only cats meeting our strict health standards are included in our program.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

HCM is a common heart condition in the Maine Coon breed.

- All breeding cats are DNA tested negative for known HCM mutations.

-To ensure heart health and genetic integrity, our breeding cats receive ECHOs performed by a Veterinary cardiologist.

- This hands on screening complements our DNA testing for known HCM mutations.

FAQ

Do the Cats live with us?

Yes. We raise all kittens in a family environment (We do not use cages).

Our Cats live in our home and get exposed to a wide variety of sounds and smells.

The family environment fosters strong social bonds, emotional well-being, and a sense of security for our Cats.

What do our cats eat ?

Providing our cats with a high quality diet is essential for their growth, energy, and long term health. We feed a combination of Tiki cat wet food, Orijen kibble, and Smack dehydrated raw.

Feeding a raw whole prey cat food diet can be beneficial for cats as it provides a natural and balanced source of nutrients, including protein, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. It can also help maintain dental health and promote overall well-being.

When do the Kittens go home?

We send our kittens to their forever homes at 12-14 weeks.

Keeping kittens with their mother for an extended period is one of the best ways to ensure they grow up healthy, well-socialized, and emotionally secure.

This also allows for them to have had 2 sets of vaccines, microchipped,  and checked by a Vet.

We want to ensure the kitten is using a litter box and is on a solid food diet. We are better able to assess each kittens unique personality and match them to the appropriate family.

What is included in price of Kitten?

-Our kittens see the vet at least twice before going to their new homes and will have received their first 2 of 3 vaccinations (8 and 12 weeks), and will need a 3rd around 16 weeks.

- Kittens will be dewormed twice.

- 2 year health guarantee for Hip and HCM (heart).

- Each kitten will go home with a care package that includes a blanket and toys with smells they are accustom to.

-30 day Trupanion health insurance packet.

-Sample of current food.

-Breeder slip for registration with TICA (once proof of spay/neuter).

Do you allow visits to Cattery?

Unfortunately, we are a Closed Cattery.

The young, unvaccinated kittens, are susceptible to virus/bacteria that can unintentionally be passed to the babies. We are happy to chat via video call so you can view available kittens.

This is also great opportunity to get to know each other.

Our Facilities

We take pride in our facilities, which are designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our Cats. Our facilities include outdoor play areas, climate-controlled indoor spaces, and separate areas for our breeding Cats.

How do I get updates on my kitten?

We regularly update our social media, so be sure to follow us to stay connected and see the latest photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes moments from our cattery.
